أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
Oder glauben die Bewohner der Städte, sicher davor zu sein, daß Unsere Gewalt am hellen Morgen über sie kommt, während sie spielen?
Oder wähnen sich die Bewohner der Städte in Sicherheit davor, daß unsere Schlagkraft am helllichten Tag über sie kommt, während sie sich dem Spiel hingeben?
Or, are the people of the towns so unafraid that (even when) Our retribution comes upon them in the hours of the morning they remain engrossed in sport and play?
Or did the peoples of the townships feel secure that Our mighty punishment would not come upon them in the daytime while they have indulged in worldly play?
And do the people of these townships feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them in the early part of the forenoon while they are engaged in futile and frivolous (worldly) pursuits?
Why, can the people of any community ever feel secure that Our punishment will not come upon them in broad daylight, while they are engaged in [worldly] play? 78
Or, are the people of the township secure that Our wrath would not come upon them by daylight while they are disporting themselves?
Or do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them during the day, while they are playing?
Were the people of these cities secure that Our Wrath would not come on them in the morning whilst they played carefree?
Or did the villages`/urban cities` people trust that Our might/power comes to them at sunrise/daybreak/forenoon and (while) they are playing/amusing ?
Or do the people of these towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in broad daylight while they are playing around?
Are the people of the towns, then, secure from Our punishment coming to them by night while they sleep?
or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day?
Or are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them in the daytime while they play?
What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play?
Or, did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our Punishment in the forenoon while they play?
Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)?
