Original Book

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ

Unter den Menschen gibt es manchen, der zerstreuende Unterhaltung erkauft, um (die Menschen) von Allahs Weg ohne (richtiges) Wissen in die Irre zu führen und sich über ihn lustig zu machen. Für solche wird es schmachvolle Strafe geben.

Unter den Menschen gibt es manch einen, der ergötzende Unterhaltung einhandelt, um (die Menschen) vom Weg Gottes ohne (rechtes) Wissen abirren zu lassen und ihn zum Gegenstand des Spottes zu nehmen. Für solche ist eine schmähliche Pein bestimmt.

But among men are also those who spread frivolous stories to mislead (others) from the way of God, without any knowledge, and take it lightly. For such as these the nemesis will be shameful.

Among the people is one who pays for idle tales and diverting talk to lead people astray from (the Qur’an, which is) God’s way, without knowledge, and makes a mockery of it (the Qur’an). For such (a man) there is a shameful, humiliating punishment.

(On the other hand) there are some people who follow ways of causing diversion (from guidance), with the result that they, in their ignorance, lead (people) astray from Allâh´s path and treat it (- Allâh´s path) as something of least importance. A humiliating punishment awaits such people.

But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance], 4  so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store.

And of mankind is one who purchaseth an idle discourse, that he may mislead from Allah´s way without knowledge, and taketh it by way of mockery. These! for them shall be a torment ignominious.

And some people buy words of play, in order to mislead from Allah’s path, without knowledge; and to make it an article of mockery; for them is a disgraceful punishment.

And from the people who buys the information`s/speeches` amusement/fun to misguide from God`s way/path without knowledge, and He takes it mockingly/making fun, those, for them (is) a humiliating/degrading torture.

Among the people there are some who purchase frivolous tales so that they may lead people away from the Way of Allah, without any knowledge, and take the invitation to the Right Way as a mockery. For such people there will be a humiliating punishment.

And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e.music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).

But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty.
