لَتُبْلَوُنَّ فِي أَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنْفُسِكُمْ وَلَتَسْمَعُنَّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا أَذًى كَثِيرًا ۚ وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَإِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ
Ihr werdet ganz gewiß in eurem Besitz und in eurer eigenen Person geprüft werden, und ihr werdet ganz gewiß von denjenigen, denen die Schrift vor euch gegeben wurde, und denen, die (Allah etwas) beigesellen, viel Beleidigendes zu hören bekommen. Doch wenn ihr standhaft und gottesfürchtig seid, so gehört dies gewiß zur Entschlossenheit (in der Handhabung) der Angelegenheiten.
Ihr werdet sicherlich an eurem Vermögen und an euch selbst geprüft werden, und ihr werdet gewiß von denen, denen das Buch vor euch zugekommen ist, und von den Polytheisten viel Ungemach hören. Wenn ihr euch aber geduldig und gottesfürchtig verhaltet, so gehört dies zur Entschlossenheit in den Anliegen.
You will, nonetheless, be tried with your wealth and life, and will hear many untoward things from the followers of former Books and the infidels. But if you endure with patience and follow the straight path, it will surely (accord) with God´s fixed resolve about human affairs.
(So, O believers, as a requirement of the wisdom in and purpose for your life of the world,) you will surely be tested in respect of your properties and your selves, and you will certainly hear many hurtful things from those who were given the Book before you and those who associate partners with God. If you remain patient (are steadfast in your religion and observe the bounds set by God in your relations with them) and keep within the limits of piety (in obeying God and in your conduct toward them), (know that) this is among meritorious things requiring great resolution to fulfill.
You shall, certainly, be tried in your substance and lives and you shall certainly hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who set up equals (to God) a good deal of hurtful abuse. But if you are patiently persevering and guard against evil, then this (attitude) is worth being followed with constancy and firm determination.
You shall most certainly be tried in your possessions and in your persons; and indeed you shall hear many hurtful things from those to whom revelation was granted before your time, as well as from those who have come to ascribe divinity to other beings beside God. But if you remain patient in adversity and conscious of Him - this, behold, is something to set one's heart upon.
O Ye shall surely be proven in your riches and in your lives; and will surely bear much hurt from those who were vouchsafed the Book before you and from those who associate gods, and if ye endure and fear, then verily that is of the commandments determined.
You will surely be tried in respect of your property and lives, and you will surely hear much wrong from those who were given the Book before you, and from the polytheists; and if you remain steadfast and remain pious, it is then an act of great courage.
When Allah took the covenant from those who have received the Scripture, (and said), "You shall of a surety manifest it unto men, and not hide it", they cast it behind their backs, and bought therewith a little gain, but evil is what they buy therewith.
You shall be tested (E) in your properties and yourselves, and you will hear (E) from those who were given The Book from before you, and from those who shared/made partners (with God) much mild harm, and if you be patient, and you fear and obey, so then that (is) from the matters`/affairs` decisiveness/determination.
You shall certainly be tested with by means of your wealth and with your persons; and you will certainly hear much that is hurtful from those who were given the Book before you, and from the mushrikin. But if you endure with patience and have fear of Allah, this will surely be a proof of your firm determination.
Every soul will taste of death. And you will be paid your reward fully only on the Resurrection day. Then whoever is removed far from the Fire and is made to enter the Garden, he indeed attains the object. And the life of this world is nothing but a provision of vanities.
You (believers) will certainly be tested by the loss of your property and lives and you will hear a great many grieving words from the People of the Book and the pagans. If you will have patience and piety, it will be a sign of firm determination and steadfastness (in life).
Assuredly ye will be tried in your property and in your persons, and ye will hear much wrong from those who were given the Scripture before you, and from the idolaters. But if ye persevere and ward off (evil), then that is of the steadfast heart of things.
You shall certainly be tried respecting your wealth and your souls, and you shall certainly hear from those who have been given the Book before you and from those who are polytheists much annoying talk; and if you are patient and guard (against evil), surely this is one of the affairs (which should be) determined upon.
You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts].

But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil,-then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.
