وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Und was euch an dem Tag traf, da die beiden Heere aufeinandertrafen, so (geschah) das mit Allahs Erlaubnis, - damit Er die Gläubigen kennt
Und was euch traf an dem Tag, da die beiden Scharen aufeinandertrafen, das geschah mit der Erlaubnis Gottes, und damit Er die Gläubigen in Erfahrung bringe,
What you suffered on the day the two armies had met was by God´s dispensation, so that He may distinguish the faithful,
What befell you on the day when the two hosts met (in battle) was by God’s leave, and that He might mark out the (true) believers.
And that which befell you on the day when the two armies met (at Uhud), was so by the leave of Allâh, and (it happened thus) so that He might distinguish the believers,
and all that befell you on the day when the two hosts met in battle happened by God's leave, so that He might mark out the [true] believers,
And that which befell you on the day whereon the two hosts met was by Allah´s leave, and that he might know the believers.
And the calamity that struck you on the day the two armies met, was by Allah’s command - and in order that He may make known the believers.
And He might know those who are hypocrites; for it was said to them, "Come, fight in Allah´s way," or "Repel (the foe)" But they said, "If we knew how to fight we would surely follow you." They were that day far nearer unto faithlessness than they were to faith, saying with their mouths what is not in their heart. But Allah does know best what they hide.
And what struck/hit you (on the) day the two groups/gatherings met , so (it is) with God`s permission, and to know the believers.
The misfortune which befell you when the two armies met in the battle of Uhud was with the leave of Allah, so that He might know the true believers
What! When a misfortune befell you, and you had inflicted twice as much, you say: Whence is this? Say: It is from yourselves. Surely Allah is Possessor of power over all things.
What befell you, when the two armies confronted each other, was by the permission of God so that He would know who were the true believers
That which befell you, on the day when the two armies met, was by permission of Allah; that He might know the true believers;
And what befell you on the day when the two armies met (at Ohud) was with Allah´s knowledge, and that He might know the believers.
And what you suffered (of the disaster) on the day (of the battle of Uhud when) the two armies met, was by the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers.
What ye suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers,-
