أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا مِنْكُمْ وَيَعْلَمَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Oder meint ihr etwa, daß ihr in den (Paradies)garten eingehen werdet, noch ehe Allah diejenigen von euch kennt, die unter euch sich (für Seine Sache) abmühen, und die Standhaften kennt?
- oder meint ihr, daß ihr ins Paradies eingehen werdet, noch ehe Gott in Erfahrung gebracht hat, wer von ihnen sich eingesetzt hat? - und damit Er in Erfahrung bringe, wer die Standhaften sind.
Do you think you will go to Paradise while God does not know who among you strive and persist?
Did you suppose that you should enter Paradise without God marking out those among you who really strive hard (in His cause and marking out the patient and steadfast?
Do you suppose that you would enter Paradise while Allâh has not yet distinguished those of you who strive hard (in the cause of Allâh) and has not yet distinguished the patiently persevering.
Do you think that you could enter paradise unless God takes cognizance of your having striven hard [in His cause], and takes cognizance of your having been patient in adversity? 102
Or, deem ye that ye shall enter the Garden while yet Allah hath not known those of you who have striven hard nor yet known the steadfast!
What! You assume that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet tested your warriors, nor yet tested the steadfast?
Verily, you used to long for death before you met it! Now you see it (and flinch)!
Or (have) you thought/supposed that you enter the Paradise, and God did not (E) know, those who struggled/did utmost from you, and He knows the patient.
Do you think that you will enter paradise without going through the trial? Allah has not yet tested you to see who among you strive hard for His cause and who show patience for His sake.
And that He may purge those who believe and deprive the disbelievers of blessings.
Did you think that you could go to Paradise before God knew which of you fought for His cause and which of you bore patience?
Or deemed ye that ye would enter paradise while yet Allah knoweth not those of you who really strive, nor knoweth those (of you) who are steadfast?
Do you think that you will enter the garden while Allah has not yet known those who strive hard from among you, and (He has not) known the patient.
Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allah tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)?
Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without Allah testing those of you who fought hard (In His Cause) and remained steadfast?
